Paint the Cape REaD is an early learning and literacy initiative being undertaken to encourage parents to engage with their children’s development through reading, rhyming, singing, talking, and playing with them, all from day one! The initiative has been in the planning stages for some time now and was finally unveiled in Busselton on Friday the 3rd of August.
The Paint the Cape REaD Egg Launch took place in the Busselton Library, where a wondrous and magical egg was unveiled! The magic egg will now make its way around the South-West Capes region visiting schools, libraries, early learning centres, and other locations on an eight-week journey. The egg will grow larger over the next eight weeks and eventually hatch into an unknown mascot, and in order to grow larger, in needs parents and children to read, rhyme, sing, talk, and play together!
The egg launch (pictured) was very successful, as parents and their young children gathered together to kick start the egg’s growth with a story telling and sing along session.
The magical egg’s journey will culminate when it hatches and reveals the mascot, taking place on the Busselton foreshore on October 5th.
The AccordWest Family Services team has supported this initiative as it is a great way to involve parents in their children’s growth and development from an early age.
