AccordWest provides a range of Out-of-Home Care Services for young people up to 18 years of age who are referred to us by the Department of Communities. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment, be that in our formal care arrangements or with our dedicated Foster and Therapeutic Carers. We strongly believe that children who cannot live at home deserve the best possible care we can provide, and to experience the support children need to grow develop and heal.
The AccordWest Foster Care program supports children and young people who are unable to live with their family for a variety of reasons. Foster Carers are an integral part of our Out of Home Care Services as the care, support and security they give to the children and young people when they foster can be life changing. Not only for the child or young person but for the Foster Carer and their family, as well.
Children and young people in out of home care will have experienced some kind of trauma in their lives, it could be neglect, emotional, physical or sexual abuse. They need to feel safe somewhere with people who care.
It’s not always easy, but it is a worthwhile journey to walk alongside a child or young person as they negotiate the world around them with your help.
As a Foster Carer with AccordWest, you will receive 24-hour support, training and a subsidy to help you in your role as a valued member of our team.
We invite you to call us and learn about our program and what it takes to be a Foster Carer. f you think you’ve got what it takes, we would love to hear from you!
