Reintegration Services

At Accordwest, we offer a cluster of reintegration services that are designed to prepare Bunbury prison inmates for a successful transition back into the community.

Remand

Being sentenced can have a huge disruption on someone's life as they await the unpredictability of court dates and processes. Our Remand service is a two-week practical support period designed to explain the different types of inmate reintegration programs available in Bunbury Prison, as well as help tie-up any loose ends from turning off the gas at their residence, to letting their landlord or employer know where they're at, getting on the Department of Housing wait list, or filling out documents to gain ID for when they get out.

Release Support

Release Support works with participants six months before the date they are being released from prison, then for the first 12 months into the community. They'll work individually with a caseworker to Bunbury Prison, from finding long-term employment to learning how to budget, increasing positive hobbies, building a healthy circle of friends, improving relationships, meeting the requirements of parole conditions, and finding purpose and meaning in their community.

CTP (Community Transition Program)

CTP is a group prison release program run in Bunbury Prison one day a week over four weeks. The sessions are fun and engaging, designed to build the practical life skills that re needed when being released from prison to ensure they're capable, proactive and resilient. After their time with CTP, they'll feel confident, they can go out and create a resume, practice a job interview, and de-stress through breathing exercises, meditation or stress balls when things are overwhelming, whatever it might be.

TASS

Available only for clients that are going through Release Support, TASS offers shared and Transitional Accomodation to help inmates build a launch pad from which to make a fresh start. Once they're identified as being eligible, we'll guide them through an assessment process, develop a support plan to identify risks to reoffending, then work alongside them as they transition from Bunbury Prison into a TASS property, with weekly case worker meetings to keep them on a path towards longer term accommodations.
