24 HOUR SUPPORT
When you foster with us, we will work with you on all aspects of your foster child’s care. You will be provided with 24/7 support, all the training you need and direct and regular assistance from our Case Managers, Social Workers, therapists and other support staff.
When you need us, we will be there. You will be provided with direct contact details of relevant staff (Case Managers and Social Workers) who will be available for advice, recommendation and direct assistance 24/7 for the duration of the foster care period.
AccordWest has a robust network of respite carers, ready to give you that much needed break from foster caring (and trust us, it’s not unusual to need a break). Respite care is available for planned and unplanned leave from the foster care arrangement.
When you foster a child with us, you’ll receive regular foster care payments in the form of a non-taxable allowance. These foster care payments are to cover your foster child’s living costs (food, clothes, basic travel, household bills, pocket money, Christmas and birthday presents and entertainment).
The allowance amount depends on the type of foster placement, the foster child’s age and the special or other needs of the child.
Foster carers have unique challenges and experiences that others might find hard to understand. That’s why our Foster Care Support Groups are so important. Participants share knowledge, experience, frustrations, challenges and, most importantly, success stories. The support, empathy and practical assistance foster carers give each other is gold!
